How do AI actors, human creators, and faceless videos compare?
Median views of app TikToks with 50,000+ views, October 31, 2026.
| Who is on screen | Videos | Share | Median views | Top video |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Human creators | 4,526 | 82.8% | 267,180 | 229,627,104 |
| Faceless | 904 | 16.5% | 293,671 | 41,911,938 |
| AI actors | 35 | 0.6% | 490,883 | 20,166,399 |
View counts are from when we saved each video. We only track app videos with 50,000+ views. "Faceless" means no person on camera: text on screen, screen recordings, gameplay, or slideshows. "AI actors" means an AI-generated person or avatar.
How should you read these numbers?
Start with what the data leaves out. Every video here passed 50,000 views, so this is a list of hits. It shows how big the hits get. It cannot show how many tries each one took.
Then look at the sample sizes. 35 AI actor videos is a small group, and a few big wins move a median a lot. The AI actor number shows that the format can work on TikTok. With a sample this small, it cannot rank AI actors against people.
At the top of the list, the biggest video we track, at 229,627,104 views, features a human creator, as do 4,526 of the hits.
Faceless videos hold up well too. Text stories, rankings, and screen recordings have a slightly higher median than human videos, and formats like the RIZZ text story and Swerve’s c.ai callouts need no face at all.
When should you use AI actors or human creators?
| Use | Best when | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Human creators | You need trust, real reactions, comments that feel personal, or a niche persona (fitness, beauty, faith, study) | Cost per video and turnaround; every new hook needs a new shoot |
| AI actors | You need many hooks fast, one consistent face across a series, several languages, or quick tests of new angles | Platform AI labels, uncanny moments, and claims a real person would have to make |
| Faceless | The idea lives in the text: stories, rankings, screen demos, memes | It needs a strong first line, since there is no face to stop the scroll |
All three show up among the hits, so pick by the job your video has to do, and test more than one. ugcMaxx makes every video with AI, using the best model for each job (Seedance, Wan, Veo and others), and a human team writes, directs, edits, and posts it. That covers AI actors and faceless formats. Book a call to plan which ones to test for your app.
