How to get a TikTok Spark Ads code

The creator's steps in the TikTok app, the brand's steps in Ads Manager, the problems that block a code, and what access costs.

A Spark Ads code lets a brand run a creator's TikTok post as an ad from the creator's account. The creator opens the post, taps the three dots, goes to Ad settings, turns on Ad authorization, picks 7, 30, 60, or 365 days, and copies the code. The brand pastes it in TikTok Ads Manager under Tools, Creative library, Spark Ads posts. Views, likes, comments, and follows from the ad count on the creator's post.

What are TikTok Spark Ads?

TikTok calls Spark Ads "a native ad format" that uses organic TikTok posts in advertising (TikTok Ads Help Center). The ad shows the creator's name and profile, so it looks like a normal post, and the engagement it earns stays on that post. One Ads Manager account can hold up to 10,000 Spark Ads. In TikTok's own test, Spark Ads had a 134% higher completion rate than standard in-feed ads (TikTok for Business).

One way to use them: wait for a post to go viral on its own, then pay to push it. @organicbond puts Spark Ads codes behind UGC videos that already went viral organically and says he got a 3.4x return on ad spend. That is his own number. We have not verified it.

How do creators generate a Spark Ads code?

  1. Open the post in the TikTok app and tap the three dots.
  2. Tap Ad settings and accept the ad terms the first time.
  3. Turn on Ad authorization.
  4. Pick how long the code works: 7, 30, 60, or 365 days (TikTok Ads Help Center).
  5. Tap Generate code, then Copy code, and send it to the brand.

TikTok moves these menus between app versions. If Ad settings is not on the post, look under Settings and privacy, then Creator tools. When a creator tags a brand with the Disclose commercial content setting, TikTok's help pages say the post is pre-authorized for that brand's Spark Ads for 60 days by default, so no code is needed.

How does a brand add a Spark Ads code in Ads Manager?

  1. Go to Tools, then Creative library, then Spark Ads posts, and click Apply for authorization (TikTok Ads Help Center).
  2. Paste the code, click Search to preview the post, then Confirm. You can add up to 20 codes at once.
  3. Build the ad. At the ad level, choose the authorized post from the TikTok posts tab, add a call to action, and publish.

You can also authorize a code while you build the ad: add a creative, open the TikTok posts tab, and click Apply for authorization (Archive help guide).

What stops a Spark Ads code from working?

ProblemWhat to do
The code expired (error 4025)The creator can extend it only before it expires. After that, ask for a new code.
The post is private (not_public_video)The creator makes the post public, then the code works.
A duet or stitchGet codes from every creator in the post; TikTok blocks posts with more than one person who has not authorized.
Music the brand cannot useBusiness accounts can only use the Commercial Music Library. The General Music Library is not cleared for brands, and ads can stop with "Missing music copyright".
The post was removed or bannedBanned posts cannot run as ads. Ask for a different post.

From TikTok's help pages on Spark Ads code errors, the Commercial Music Library, and ad statuses, checked October 24, 2026. The music problem is the easiest one to prevent: pick Commercial Music Library sounds or original voiceover before the video is made.

Do Spark Ads need a disclosure label?

The creator should turn on Disclose commercial content when they post. Choosing "Your brand" labels the post Promotional content, and choosing "Branded content" labels it Paid partnership. TikTok says the label cannot be changed after posting, so get it right the first time (TikTok Ads Help Center). When the post runs as a Spark Ad, TikTok also marks it as an ad.
